We wish to Change the Title of this Program of Study from "Coastal Biology" to "Coastal and Marine Biology." The change to the title of the Flagship program has already been approved by the Faculty Association (FA 16-40 on October 6, 2016) and President Delaney. This change will align all programs under the new, more descriptive title. The program of study and total credits for the degree have not been changed.(Click here for the program of study)
Change an existing course
This request is to modify the course prerequisites. We wish to drop PCB3063C Genetics as a prerequisite. We will maintain PCB3023C Molecular and Cellular Biology as a prerequisite. We are making this change to increase enrollment in this course, as most students have not completed both prerequisite courses until their senior year.New Course Description:
A study of gametogenesis, fertilization, and embryogenesis at the descriptive and molecular levels and of related developmental problems such as regeneration and carcinogenesis. Three hours lecture, four hours laboratory. (A laboratory fee of $51.93 will be assessed.)

Prerequisites: NoneCo-requisites: None
AFH3XXX Ancient Africa to 1850 is a foreign culture course that emphasizes African social, cultural, and material changes from the archaeological and historical record. The course covers Africa's encounters with old and new religious traditions (including Christianity and Islam), the rise of major kingdoms (Ghana, Mali, and Kongo), and the global significance of how slavery affected African societies and the African diaspora via the trans-Saharan, Indian Ocean, and trans-Atlantic Slave Trades. There are no pre or co-requisites.
Mathematics & Statistics –Undergraduate
(GM) Design of Experiments
Action: Add STA 2023 and STA 3032 as possible prerequisites for STA 4202. Motivation: They should be part of the prerequisite choices. Action: Add STA 2023: (GM) Elementary Statistics for Business and STA 3032: (GM) Probability and Statistics for Engineers as alternative prerequisites for STA 4202: (GM) Design of Experiments. Motivation: This change was requested by the School of Computing to add to their list of electives choices for the recently approved data science minor, since Computer and Information Science students in different majors take different statistics courses as their prerequisites. This addition is to expand choices for the students.

The program of study also has an exchange of semesters for when students will take two courses - RED 3333 Reading in the Content Area is being moved from junior year 2nd semester to junior year 1st semester, and MUE 3693 Technology for Music Educators is being moved from junior year 1st semester to junior year 2nd semester. A Supportive Note from COEHS – Associate Dean Jennifer Kane
Re: APC changes, seeking your input and support
Jeff received your email yesterday and we have concluded that if you all do not wish to offer the Diversity course we will support you dropping it from the POS. Please remember that the Professional Education Exam includes content that is covered in that course. We would suggest that you include the course as a highly recommended choice for the diversity requirement in General Education. It was just approved so students can count that course for a Gen Ed requirement. You can check the Florida DOE website for initial certification to see what they would need to take in the master’s degree for initial certification. We are happy to include any courses they may need i.e. Assessment, TESOL and Reading in the Content Area. We do not have any objections to you all pursuing that degree. Are you planning to move the degree to your college since it already exists in COEHS?
We could sit down and discuss this with you in more detail if you would like. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
