First-Generation Student Success
First-generation is a term used to identify a student whose parents or legal guardians have not earned a bachelor's degree. In other words, you are the FIRST in your family to attend and graduate from college. There are a large percentage of students at University of North Florida who are the first in their family to attend college, and many of UNF's faculty and staff are first-generation as well including our very own President, Dr. David Szymanski. Being a first-generation student means you are a trailblazer and have an amazing opportunity to forge your own path here at UNF and long after graduation. Undergraduate Studies aims to increase the success of all first-generation students by providing opportunities and resources to navigate towards a unique college experience.
