Fall 2020 Election Timeline

Tuesday, August 25th: Workshop- Elections 101

The Office of Elections will provide potential candidates/parties with information on how to successfully run in an election. Tips, rules, and ideas will be shared.

Tuesday, September 8th: Political Party Declaration of Intent

Political Party Declaration of Intent forms are due September 8th by 5:00 p.m. in the Student Government Rotunda, located in building 58E. Completed forms may also be scanned and emailed to the Elections Commissioner at sgaelections@unf.edu . Forms may also be found at the rotunda or online here.  

Wednesday, September 16th: Elections Fair

Elections Fair will take place in the Student Union plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students and candidates are encouraged to attend and meet the different political parties running in the upcoming election.

 

(Due to COVID-19 Market Days has been put on hold. Therefore, this will be a tabling event- however, this is also subject to change)

 

Party chairs must contact the Elections Commissioner to discuss set up.

 

Candidates are permitted to put up their campaign signage. Please review the campus signage map (located in the Candidate Campaign Packet) to ensure you are following the proper policies and procedures.

Wednesday, September 16th: Begin accepting Candidate Declaration of Intent

The Office of Elections will begin accepting Candidate Declaration of Intent; they are due at the Student Government Rotunda, located in building 58E. Completed forms  may be scanned and emailed to the Elections Commissioner at sgaelections@unf.edu . Forms may  also be found at the rotunda or online here.

Monday, October 5th: Candidate Declaration of Intent Due Date

Wednesday, October 7th: Student Candidate Forum

Candidate forum will take place  in the Student Union plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Candidate forums give students the opportunity to meet with candidates running and speak about their issues and concerns.

(Due to COVID-19 Market Days has been put on hold.  Therefore, this will be a tabling event- however, this is also subject to change)

Monday, October 12th: Mandatory Candidacy Meeting

Learn about your possible role as a senator from current senators. Join the Office of Elections and Senate members for further knowledge about Student Government at 6:00pm. Refer to social media for ZOOM Meeting information.    

If you are unable to attend either of these meetings you must contact the Elections Commissioner immediately.

Tuesday, October 20th: First day of Elections

Polling booths will be set up from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Library and Student Union Plaza. Online voting will be available 24 hours.

Wednesday, October 21st: Second day of Elections

Polling booths will be set up from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Library and Student Union Plaza. Online voting will be available until 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 21st : Elections Results Release

The Elections Results will be released immediately following their tabulation and confirmation by the Office of Elections.

Thursday, October 22nd: Candidate Financial Statements

Candidate Financial Statements are due by 5:00 p.m. in the Student Government Rotunda. All expenses must be declared. Refer to the Policies and Procedures or contact the Elections Commissioner if you have any further questions.

Completed forms may also be scanned and emailed to the Elections Commissioner at sgaelections@unf.edu .

Friday, October 23rd: Judicial Complaints & Signage Removal

Any student may file a judicial complaint regarding the election. Judicial complaints must be filed by 5:00 p.m. in the Student Government Rotunda, with the exception of the Elections Commissioner. For any further questions please contact sgaelections@unf.edu

Campaigns are responsible for removing all campaign-related materials by 5:00 p.m


How to Run in Elections

Step 1:

Go to the Student Government Rotunda (located on the third floor of the Student Union Building 58E/3300) to pick up a Candidate Declaration of Intent Form

Step 2:

Return completed Candidate Declaration of Intent Form to the Student Government Rotunda, 58E/3300.

Step 3:

Fill out a Purple Student Conduct Form and bring it to the SG Director's Office, located in the Student Union Building 58E/3401.
