Spring 2022 Election Timeline

Thursday, January 20th: Workshop - Elections 101

The Office of Elections will provide potential candidates/parties with information on how to successfully run in an election. Tips, rules, and ideas will be shared. The workshop will take place at 4:00pm by Zoom.

Tuesday, January 25th: Political Party Declaration of Intent

 Political Party Declaration of Intent forms are due January 25th by 5:00 p.m. in the Student Government Rotunda, located in building 58E. If you have any questions, please email sgaelections@unf.edu. Forms may also be found at the rotunda or online at: https://unf.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/sgelections


Wednesday, February 9th: Elections Fair

 Elections Fair will take place in the Student Union plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students and candidates are encouraged to attend and meet the different political parties running in the upcoming election. Party chairs must contact the Supervisor of Elections to discuss set up.


Candidates are permitted to put up their campaign signage. Please review the campus signage map (located in the Candidate Campaign Packet) to ensure you are following the proper policies and procedures.

Wednesday, February 9th: Begin accepting Candidate Declaration of Intent

 The Office of Elections will begin accepting Candidate Declaration of Intent; they are due at the Student Government Rotunda, located in building 58E. If you have any questions, please email sgaelections@unf.edu . Forms may also be found at the rotunda or online at: https://unf.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/sgelections

Tuesday, February 15th: Candidate Declaration of Intent due

 Completed forms can be dropped off in the Student Government Rotunda, located in Building 58E. If you have any questions, please email sgaelections@unf.edu . Forms may also be found at the rotunda or online at: https://unf.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/sgelections

Tuesday, February 15th: Presidential / Vice Presidential Declaration of Intent Due

Monday, February 21st: Mandatory Candidacy Meeting

 Learn about the role of a senator from current senators. Join the Office of Elections and Senate members for further knowledge about Student Government at 6:00pm, in the John E SAPP Conference room in building 58E, third floor.


*Each candidate is required to attend at least one of these events mandatory meetings or is disqualified. *

Monday, February 28th: Presidential Debate

 A Presidential Debate will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Student Union, 58W, 3805. Students are encouraged to attend to hear debate on pressing issues by the Presidential Candidates. Candidates will be contacted beforehand to gain an understanding of the debate format.

Wednesday, March 2nd: Student Candidate Forum

Candidate forum will take place in the Student Union plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Candidate forums give students the opportunity to meet with candidates running and speak about their issues and concerns.

 

Party chairs/candidates must contact the Supervisor of Elections to discuss set up.

Tuesday, March 8th: First day of Elections

Polling booths will be set up from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Library and Student Union Plaza. Online voting will be available 24 hours. Refer to social media or flyers for the QR Code.

Wednesday, March 9th: Second day of Elections

Polling booths will be set up from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Library and Student Union Plaza. Online voting will be available until 6:00 p.m. Refer to social media or flyers for the QR Code.

Wednesday, March 9th: Elections Results Release

The Elections Results will be released immediately following their tabulation and confirmation by the Office of Elections. Refer to social media for results of election.

Thursday, March 10th: Candidate Financial Statements

Candidate Financial Statements are due by 5:00 p.m. in the Student Government Rotunda. All expenses must be declared. Refer to the Policies and Procedures or contact the Supervisor of Elections if you have any further questions.

Thursday, March 10th: Judicial Complaints and Signage Removal

Any A&S fee paying student may file a judicial complaint regarding the election. Judicial complaints must be filed by 5:00 p.m. in the Student Government Rotunda, with the exception of the Supervisor of Elections. For any further questions please contact sgaelections@unf.edu  

 

Campaigns are responsible for removing all campaign-related materials by 5:00 p.m.

 


How to Run in Elections

Step 1:

Go to the Student Government Rotunda (located on the third floor of the Student Union Building 58E/3300) to pick up a Candidate Declaration of Intent Form

Step 2:

Return completed Candidate Declaration of Intent Form to the Student Government Rotunda, 58E/3300.
