Chris Abetz has over 30 years of financial and operational management experience. He has served in several career leadership roles including materials and equipment distribution, technology development, commercial property maintenance/management, performance improvement, and developing successful franchise opportunities for small businesses in small towns across the United States. Most recently, Chris was the Chief Financial Officer for a national technology cooperative business, serving over a decade and a half, improving both the financial health and quality of life for over 1,000 rural and suburban utilities and their millions of rural consumers nationwide.

Chris is the consultant for the Florida SBDC at UNF’s Clay County office. He is passionate about engaging with Clay County’s small business owners to provide them with actionable one-on-one consulting, training, and informational resources. Chris’s main goal is to maximize small business growth, competitiveness, and sustained long-term business value and profitability. He serves Clay County by specializing primarily in the areas of performance improvement, strategic planning, business management, finance and accounting, and change management.

Chris has served as Board Advisor to multiple small-and-medium size businesses, as well as engaging with multiple leadership teams to coach and advise them on how to operate successfully on all business fronts. He is dedicated to applying these talents in his role as a consultant in Clay County.

Chris is a native of Northern Virginia where he graduated from George Mason University with a B.S. in Accounting and he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He has been a resident of Florida for over 10 years. Chris calls Clay County his home and truly believes that every day is a great day to help Clay’s small businesses grow and succeed!
