Volunteers Needed, No Experience Necessary!
Are you interested in organic gardening? Want to learn about what it takes to cultivate and grow healthy, delicious fruits and veggies? Do you like to work outside and get your hands dirty? Or maybe you'd just like to hang out with a great bunch of creative, interesting people and have some fun while you improve your environment. No matter what the case, volunteering in the UNF Ogier Gardens might be for you. Come join our team and help build, cultivate and maintain our beautiful garden. We are always looking for those interested in learning about gardening while lending a hand to help us grow. All volunteers receive free organic vegetables, herbs, fruits or flowers! Or adopt your own garden bed and feel the thrill of accomplishment and satisfaction as you watch your work turn into healthy foods you can eat. During volunteer hours, UNF students from all over campus come together to work in the dirt, till, weed and water the rows and hang out with nature. You can put the volunteer hours on your resume, and you'll learn a lot about organic gardening and maybe make some new friends.
We are open in the Spring & Fall: Tuesdays 8 AM - 11 AM, as well as Wednesdays - Fridays from 8 AM - 11 AM & 4 PM - 8 PM. These hours are in effect when UNF is in session and weather is permitting. Cloudy weather is perfect for gardening! No appointment required, sign-in when you arrive! There is blue box near the pathway when you arrive that you can sign-in your volunteer hours. Please log your time, this helps our record keeping and helps us to defend our budget! Closed-toed shoes are highly recommended. We have sunscreen, a water station, gloves you can borrow, and we’ll have staff out there that can assign you to a task whenever you arrive. We try to never let our volunteers leave empty handed and we often have veggies, herbs, fruits or flowers we can share.
To volunteer or for more info email email@example.com or call (904) 620-1570.
