UNF’s Coggin College of Business unveils new graduate and executive programs department

The University of North Florida’s Coggin College of Business (CCB) has launched a new Coggin Graduate and Executive Programs department and named Dr. Lakshmi Goel as the inaugural associate dean.

As associate dean, Goel will focus on expanding CCB’s high-quality graduate program offerings. In addition, the new department will offer executive training and customized consulting to businesses while developing industry partnerships for professional mentoring, internship and job opportunities for students.

The graduate programs at the CCB feature flexible course scheduling designed to match the busy schedules of working professionals, adaptable modalities, and professional certificate offerings besides traditional degree tracks. The College has recently expanded with new classroom space and offerings in the downtown Jacksonville location to better serve the urban core workers.

“Lakshmi is a talented and capable leader, and she has a strong vision for the future of our graduate programs and for the development of our executive education programs,” said Dr. Richard Buttimer, CCB dean. “I am confident that under her leadership, our graduate programs will continue to grow in stature and size, and that we will quickly develop a robust set of executive education offerings.”

Goel is a professor of information systems and former chairperson of the CCB management department. She holds an endowed chair in strategic management and has taught various undergraduate and graduate courses on management, information systems, business analytics and strategy. Her research interests include knowledge sharing, learning and collaboration through information technologies and her work has been published in top-tier research journals such as the MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Journal, the Journal of the Association of Information Systems and various others.

Goel holds a doctoral degree in decision and information sciences and a master’s in computer science from the University of Houston, a master’s in computer applications from the University of Pune, and a bachelor’s in commerce from the University of Mumbai.

UNF’s Coggin College of Business is known for offering high-caliber MBA, global MBA and accounting (MAcc) master’s programs and has recently expanded offerings with specialty Master’s of Science programs including management (MSM), logistics and supply chain management (MSLSCM) and business analytics (MSBA).
