Nearly 90 percent of graduates in the Transportation and Logistics Flagship Program at the University of North Florida are employed in Florida. Because UNF is committed to meeting the needs of the First Coast’s growing logistics community, the Coggin College of Business is launching a new Master of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management degree program, which kicks off in August, just in time for the fall semester.
“This master’s level logistics and supply chain management program is an opportunity to partner with the Jacksonville business community to strengthen an already thriving logistics and supply chain management workforce in the Northeast Florida region,” said Dr. Mark Dawkins, UNF Coggin College of Business dean.
This 32-credit hour degree program, one of only two in the state of Florida, is designed to meet the graduate education needs of working individuals in Northeast Florida and is now accepting applications for the inaugural class. Students will enhance their skills to keep pace with rapidly advancing technology and business practices in logistics and supply chain management as well as prepare for career advancement and leadership opportunities.
“A master’s degree is a gift to yourself, allowing for personal and professional growth by sharing business knowledge and experience in the classroom with classmates, instructors and recruiters,” said Dr. Dawn Russell, interim director of the UNF Transportation and Logistics Flagship Program. “It allows you to prepare for advancement long before the promotion is offered.”
Russell believes one of the most beneficial aspects of the degree is the five-credit research project at the culmination of the program. Students have the opportunity to delve into subjects that interest them most, that they feel will make the most difference in the discipline, and that they believe can have an impact on their organizations.
The opportunity for guided, individualized study, building on required coursework and garnering the input of professors, industry professionals, colleagues and subject matter experts, offers high pay-off in both skills and professional opportunity, not only for the student but also the sponsoring organization and the discipline.
Students can expect to work with UNF professors who have industry experience and academic expertise to help them reach their professional goals. Additionally, they will have the distinction of earning a degree from the Coggin College of Business, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, representing the highest standard of achievement for business schools—less than 5% of the world’s 13,000 business programs have earned this distinction.
Applications for the new master’s degree program are due by Friday, Aug. 9, and students with logistics or supply chain management work experience or a business undergraduate degree, may be able to waive the requirement for a GMAT test score. Interested individuals can visit the Master of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management webpage for additional information.
The UNF Transportation and Logistics Flagship program offers students an opportunity to learn about state-of-the-art supply chain tools and solutions in the Logistics Information Technology Solutions Lab, one of the best-equipped university labs of its kind with software donations valued at over $1M.
UNF, a nationally ranked university located on an environmentally beautiful campus, offers students who are dedicated to enriching the lives of others the opportunity to build their own futures through a well-rounded education.
