The University of North
Florida’s Coggin College of Business ranked No. 5 among the 48 Top-Ranked
Colleges for Financial Planning by Wealth Management magazine.
UNF outranked other
well-known universities like Stetson, Purdue and Clemson to top the list of
best programs in the U.S.
“At a recent national
industry conference, our students were approached by numerous employers
regarding this distinguished ranking,” said Ron Heymann, UNF Financial Planning
Program director and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). “This boosts our
program into the national spotlight and reflects the passion and dedication of
our faculty and students.”
Planning Program is one of only a few degree programs in Florida that meets the
educational requirements to sit for the CFP Exam. CFP certification is
generally recognized as the highest standard in the personal financial planning
industry. UNF’s courses are taught by industry professionals who are mostly
CFPs and carry vast experience in the field. Program alumni have secured jobs
at JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Fidelity and other prestigious
undergraduate students gain real-world experience with managing money as part
of the Osprey Financial Group, a student managed investment fund. Students also
have opportunities to network and learn from a wide range of professionals
through events hosted by the Financial Planning Association student chapter.
To rank the on-campus,
full-time, four-year programs of study for financial planning, 109 colleges and
universities registered by the CFP Board were surveyed. Wealth Management
ranked the programs on a weighted average of degrees granted, number of full-time
faculty equivalents, faculty with advanced degrees, capstone course offered and
CFP certified faculty teaching the Capstone course, ratio of faculty with
earned CFP certification, number of CFP completions reported to CFP Board in
academic year 2018, minimum number of courses required to graduate and number
of elective courses offered beyond the minimums required by CFP Board.
