UNF's 'There's No Place Like Homecoming' Celebration

The University of North Florida will celebrate its annual homecoming Saturday, Feb. 4, through Saturday, Feb. 11, with a variety of lively and fun events for fellow Ospreys, family and friends. This year’s theme is “There’s No Place Like Homecoming.” Below are some of the following activities:

Mr. and Ms. UNF Pageant  

7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6

Andrew J. Robinson Jr. Theater, Building 14A

The pageant will feature contestants competing in categories, including formal wear, talent and UNF spirit. The top three finalists will be crowned during the men’s basketball game February 11.

1972 Emeriti and Friends Luncheon and Showcase  

10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7

Adam W. Herbert University Center, Building 43

Free; RSVP required, (904) 620-4723

University alumni, faculty and staff in their retirement years are invited to a complimentary lunch and special entertainment. The showcase begins at 10 a.m., the luncheon at 11:30 a.m.

Alumni Recognition Dinner and Awards Ceremony  

6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8

Student Union, Building 58W, Ballroom, Room 3703

$35 per person; available here

Alumni will be recognized for exemplary service and contributions to UNF. A cocktail reception will be followed by a seated dinner and awards ceremony. Deadline for ticket purchase is Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Lip Sync  

8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8

Fine Arts Center, Building 45, Lazzara Performance Hall, Room 110

Watch teams dance and lip sync for a chance to win this year’s trophy. No bags will be allowed.

Can Castle Competition  

11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9

Student Union, Building 58, Osprey Plaza,

Supporting the University’s student-run Lend-a-Wing Pantry, competitors will be judged on overall look, use of space, UNF theme and creativity.

Night of Fun  

Student Union, Building 58, J. B. Coxwell Amphitheater, located adjacent to the Student Union

6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10

The Night of Fun carnival will feature family-friendly fun, including rides, caricatures, build-a-bear, music, free food and giveaways. A 9:45 p.m. fireworks display will conclude the festivities.

Blue and Gray Bash  

7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10

UNF Field House, Building 26

$50 per person; available here

A taste-of-the-town event with live music, food and beverages from local restaurants as well as a silent and live auction. Attire is casual chic. Deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, Feb. 3.

Swoop the Loop 5K/Fun Run  

Saturday, Feb. 11

Registration: 8 a.m., race at 9 a.m.

Student Union, Building 58, Osprey Plaza

Entry fees vary; visit the website for details and registration

Run through UNF’s beautiful campus to benefit UNF student scholarships and Lend-A-Wing Pantry.

Athletics Hall of Fame Brunch and Induction Ceremony  

11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11

The event honors alumni athletes. The deadline to purchase tickets is February 7.

#SWOOPLife Homecoming Golf Challenge and Clinic  

2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11

UNF Golf Complex at the Hayt Learning Center, Building 48

$20 per person; register here

Attend a skills clinic hosted by UNF’s women’s golf coaches Joanne Berglund and Stephanie Connelly.

Follwing the clinic, test your skills “big break” style. Deadline to register is February 3.

Homecoming Village  

4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11

Arena, Building 34, Arena Plaza, adjacent to the Arena

Family-friendly alumni event that includes free food, refreshments, music, a photo booth, face painting and more. Various colleges and departments will be hosting tables to welcome alumni.

Men’s Basketball Versus USC Upstate  

7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11

The official Homecoming game and the return of the sixth man, a special ticket package for alumni. Attendees are encouraged to show Osprey pride and wear blue for a “Blue Out.”
