The Transportation and Logistics Flagship Program at the University of North Florida is sponsoring an Executive Spotlight, “Northeast Florida Plus Jaxport: Partnerships Equal Progress” from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Adam W. Herbert University Center, Building 43, on campus. There will be a networking reception from 5:15 to 6 p.m.

Brian Taylor, JAXPORT CEO, along with Lisa Diaz, JAXPORT manager of Foreign Trade Zone No. 64, and Jeff Sheffield, North Florida TPO executive director, will discuss how public and private entities are working together to create an environment that will attract e-commerce giants, major retailers and leaders in distribution, intermodal as well as transportation and logistics to Northeast Florida.

Taylor joined JAXPORT as CEO in July 2013. He is a long-time transportation and logistics industry professional, serving nearly 30 years with commercial ocean carriers. A seasoned leader who has held a variety of high-level executive positions, Taylor has worked around the globe leading complex organizations and building high-performance teams. He is currently the vice chairman of the Florida Seaport Transportation and Economic Development Council, which oversees the implementation of seaport capital improvement projects for the State of Florida.

Diaz is a transportation and logistics professional with more than 10 years in business-to-business and client relation experience. She has been with JAXPORT for the past four years, and is currently the manager of Foreign Trade Zone No. 64 and Northeast Florida Sales. Between 2013 and 2014, Diaz helped grow the dollar value of shipments through JAXPORT’s FTZ by 100 percent. Diaz’s passion for logistics has led her to be involved heavily in logistics-focused educational groups and networking programs.

Sheffield earned a master’s degree in urban and regional planning with a specialty in transportation planning, which has landed him his job with North Florida TPO for the past 24 years. At North Florida TPO, he leads regional coordination and policy development and over sees project management for long-and short-term programs. Sheffield’s love for transportation has also allowed him to be a public speaker and panel moderator on infrastructure and other transportation topics.

This event, which is co-hosted by CSCMP Jacksonville Roundtable, is free and open to the public. No registration is required. For more information, contact Lynn Brown at (904) 620-1961 or by e-mail at
