The University of North Florida and Florida State College at Jacksonville are partnering to launch a new program, Connect, in order to make it easier for students to seamlessly transfer from one campus to the other.
The Connect program allows students who desire to earn a baccalaureate degree from UNF but may not meet the initial eligibility requirements to begin their educational career at FSCJ, allowing students to earn credits and then transfer to UNF at a future time. To enroll in the Connect program, students should apply to FSCJ and declare their intent to transfer to UNF by signing a Connect agreement on their application, the website or intent form.
Those students who are accepted will have a reserved spot at UNF. Alternately, students who apply at UNF and are deferred or placed on a waiting list can apply to FSCJ and enter the Connect program to ensure future admission to UNF.
“We see the Connect program as an opportunity to deliver a united strategy to encourage higher level education and provide access to a broader population of students,” said FSCJ President Dr. Cynthia Bioteau. “We are excited to be working with our sister institution in educating the students in our community and creating a pathway to their success.”
“UNF and FSCJ have designed a program to ensure students have every advantage and are able to connect on every academic level to make sure their transfer from one institution to the other is as seamless as possible and to ensure success in the classroom and beyond,” said UNF President John A. Delaney.
Both FSCJ and UNF have special advisors dedicated to helping students make a smooth transition from one institution to the other. Students who enroll in the Connect program must maintain passing grades at FSCJ in order to be eligible to transfer to UNF.
Through the Connect program, UNF will share all deadlines, applications, advising information and any program-related information, provide access to academic advisors to ensure success in the classroom and beyond, and, for a nominal fee, allow Connect students access to UNF campus amenities, such as the Student Union, Student Wellness Complex, Thomas G. Carpenter Library and events.
The program is currently available for students applying to college. To find out more information on hour requirements, restrictions, eligibility and program options, interested students should contact an academic advisor at FSCJ by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or at UNF by emailing email@example.com.
