The OneJax Institute at the University of North Florida will host its 97th annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Gratitude Service, a community tradition, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at St. John’s Cathedral, located at 256 E. Church St. in downtown Jacksonville.

This annual service has been held in the city since 1918 and pays homage to the sacred texts, prayers, songs and traditions that exalt the quality of gratitude for the community’s blessings.

Community faith leaders will participate in the service for the purpose of expressing gratitude from their faith perspective, while attendees gain a sense of oneness with the community as they watch and listen to various faith traditions.

“This event is important to our community as it celebrates the commonality of gratitude across many faith traditions,” said Kyle T. Reese, OneJax Board chair and pastor at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church.
