Department of Public Relations
The University of North Florida Women’s Center and V-Day UNF 2012 will present a benefit performance of “The Vagina Monologues” Friday, Feb. 24, and Saturday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. in the UNF Robinson Theater, Building 14A.
Proceeds benefit the UNF Women’s Center and the V-Day 2012 Spotlight Project. Tickets cost $20 for the general public and $10 for students with any valid UNF student identification. Tickets may be purchased through the UNF Ticket Box Office at (904) 620-2878.
“The Vagina Monologues” have been hailed by The New York Times as “funny” and “poignant” and by the Daily News as “intelligent” and “courageous.” The performance was written by award-winning playwright Eve Ensler, who dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences. In addition, the 2012 Spotlight Monologue focuses attention on violence against women and girls in Haiti.
The performance is made possible by a collaboration of more than 50 UNF students, faculty and staff who comprise V-Day UNF 2012. In cooperation with the UNF Women’s Center and the global V-Day movement, V-Day UNF works to raise awareness of violence against women and girls through performances and educational events.
