UNF/TEDxRiversideAvondale Sponsor Live Simulcast

The University of North Florida Institute for Values, Community and Leadership and TEDxRiversideAvondale will co-sponsor a live simulcast of “TEDxWomen,” an all-day event featuring dynamic speakers on relevant and enlightening issues, Saturday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Student Union Auditorium, Building 58W, Room 2704. This event is free and open to UNF students, faculty, staff and the public.

This installment of the Leadership Speakers Bureau by the Institute for Values, Community and Leadership at UNF is a live stream of a national conference, which focuses on the theme of “The Space Between” and will broadcast from Washington D.C. “TEDxWomen” has a captivating array of speakers, with a dynamic audience ready to engage in a conversation about what the theme means for women, girls and men.

The day will consist of four sessions with distinctive themes. The sessions are as follows:


  • 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. - “IQ and EQ: The Space Between Our Intellectual and Emotional Intelligence” (Melissa Ross, host/producer of WJCT’s “First Coast Forum” will emcee this session)
  •  2 to 3:30 p.m. – “The Mirror: The Space Between What We See and What Is True,”
  • 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. - “Stops and Starts: The Space Between Disruption and moving On”
  • 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. - “The Rising: The Space Between Seeing and Doing, Between Knowing and Responding, Between Staying in the Dark and Seeking the Light”

Speakers for the event include ABC News journalist Bob Woodruff and his wife Lee; National Geographic explorer Elizabeth Lindsey; Brittany Wenger, 17-year-old Google science fair grand prize winner; Tony Award-winning playwright, author and V-Day founder Eve Ensler; and many more.
