UNF Marketing Research Professor Receives National Award

Dr. A.C. “Josh” Samli, a research professor in marketing and international business at the University of North Florida, recently received the prestigious Harold W. Berkman Service Award by the Academy of Marketing Science. Berkman is the founder of the Academy, which is composed of approximately 2,500 marketing professor from all over the world.
During the first half of the summer semester, Samli, a Ponte Vedra Beach resident, was appointed as the Evren Chair Professor at Florida Atlantic University, where he delivered lectures, conducted a graduate course and interacted with doctoral students. The Evren Professorship was established by the Turkish community with support from Turkish and Florida governments to promote cooperation between Florida and Turkish businesses with possible future trade exchanges and investments.
He has been a research professor in the Coggin College of Business at UNF since 1988. As a Fulbright distinguished lecturer, Samli has been a consultant to hundreds of firms and published more than 250 scholarly articles and 19 books. His book “Social Responsibility” was recognized in 1994 as one of the most important academic books in the United States.
Samli received the Outstanding Faculty Scholarship Award at UNF in 2001 and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science as well as a Research Fellow of the International Society for Quality of Life Studies. He received his doctorate from Michigan State University and did his post-doctoral work at the University of Chicago, New York University and the University of California-Los Angeles.
