Environmental Leadership

Energized by a passion for the environment and inspired to make a difference in the world, 20 students have worked as project leaders in the Environmental Leadership Program, established in 2015. Three of those innovators — now graduated — will tell you that the work they did to affect change also transformed them, and along the way they gained something else — an understanding of what it means to be a leader.

Meyer sets the pace

For North Florida cross country and track stand-out Eden Meyer, success is using your gifts to the fullest of your ability and leaving nothing undone. One of the most decorated student-athletes in UNF history, the senior runner concluded her collegiate cross country career competing in the NCAA Cross Country Championship in November.

Anna Santiago, ‘16, was 8 years old when her family moved to Jacksonville. A past recipient of THE PLAYERS Championship Endowed First Generation Scholarship, Santiago is grateful to THE PLAYERS for making her college dream a reality, and she is paying it forward helping young people get on the right path.

Jack Bisase, ’11, loves helping others, and as a diplomat in the U.S. Department of State, he gets to do it every day. The international studies graduate found his niche in the Foreign Service and is passionate about representing American interests around the globe.

THE PLAYERS Championship recently pledged to double its endowment to fund scholarships for UNF students who will be the first in their families to graduate from college. In addition to the financial support, the students are expecially grateful for the tremendous interest and support they also receive.
