UNF ranks among Jacksonville’s healthiest companies

The University of North Florida was honored recently as one of the 2019 Healthiest Companies in Jacksonville by the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council. UNF received the recognition for the 11th year, underscored by programs like:

Partnership for a Healthier America
UNF was one of 32 institutions of higher education across the nation to complete a three-year commitment to expand healthier options across campus. The Department of Recreation and Wellness and UNF Dining Services have worked together to provide and identify healthier food options, highlighted by a Healthy Osprey icon at dining locations on campus. Produce from UNF’s student garden, Ogier Gardens, is now purchased and served at the Osprey Café.

Healthy Campus Week
Every fall, PHA and UNF hosts Healthy Campus Week. Events include mindful meditation, glow yoga and “pick your own salad” at the Ogier Gardens.

Mental Health First Aid Training
With Mental Health America of Northeast Florida, UNF recently trained more than 60 faculty, staff and students to recognize and assist individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. “Health and wellness is woven into the fabric of our University,” said Ashley Ballard, director of UNF’s Department of Recreation and Wellness. “Our goal is to make UNF the healthiest university in the nation where students, faculty and staff can flourish and bring the best of themselves to the University and the community.”
