Swoop Spirit Showdown: Department Video Contest (Part of Feathering the Nest)

Do you have what it takes to bring the Swoop to life? Here’s your chance to showcase your department’s pride, energy, and creativity in our inaugural Swoop Spirit Showdown! This is one of the spirit activities for Feathering the Nest, a new initiative that shows our appreciation to UNF’s hard-working staff and faculty and to get revved up for the upcoming academic year.  

Contest Overview:

Each university department is invited to create a short video (up to 45 seconds) showing your team doing “the swoop” — however you interpret it! Use university colors, props, choreography, music, or surprise elements to show us your department’s school spirit and creative flair.

Submission Requirements:

• Video Length: Maximum of 45 seconds
• Theme: Must include a recognizable version of “the swoop”
• Participants: Staff, faculty and student employees from your department
• File Format: MP4 preferred
• Deadline: Wednesday, August 6, 2025, by 5:00 p.m.

Judging Criteria:

• Spirit & Energy (30%) – How well does your video show university pride?
• Creativity (30%) – Did you surprise or wow us with your execution?
• Cohesion (20%) – Is your swoop well-organized and cohesive?
• Presentation (20%) – Quality of video, sound, and visual impact

Prizes:

• Best Overall Swoop — Perpetual Trophy + bragging rights for the year
• Most Creative Interpretation – Pizza delivered to your office during the first week of the fall term
