On the last Friday of February, Dr. David M. Szymanski will be inaugurated as the University of North Florida’s sixth president. This formal ceremony includes the installation of President Szymanski, investing him with the powers and responsibilities of the presidency. The theme of the Inauguration is Uniquely UNF, highlighting what makes our University special.
Friday’s events will begin with the official robing in academic regalia of the UNF Board of Trustees, alumni, faculty, elected officials and delegates from other institutions of higher education. The robing will take place at the UNF Field House. Those taking part will then follow the macebearer in a processional through campus to the Fine Arts Center and into the Lazzara Performance Hall for the investiture ceremony. Those who are unable to take part in the processional or unable to attend the ceremony will be able to watch via a live webcast. Video of the ceremony will also be posted to UNF’s website following the ceremony.
The Inauguration Ceremony is scheduled as part of UNF’s Homecoming Week. Other activities include the annual Blue and Gray Bash, which will take place on the evening of the Inauguration at 7.
