Martin Luther King Luncheon
Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. had a vision of a better world. Each year at UNF’s luncheon in his honor, we celebrate his ideals and recognize students who carry his legacy forward through their achievements and commitment to servant leadership. Funded by the event’s ticket sales, student scholarships are awarded annually through the Intercultural Center for Peace. To date, UNF has awarded more than $125,000 in scholarships.
President David Szymanski and his wife, Maria, attended the January luncheon, showing their support for UNF students and honoring the commitment of the community to fund needed scholarships for deserving UNF students.
Board of Trustees Approves Strategic Plan
The UNF Board of Trustees approved the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan at its January board meeting. Presented by President David Szymanski, the ambitious plan aims to further enhance research and development at UNF, as well as build meaningful partnerships and programs to give students an even greater competitive advantage.
Led by co-chairs Paul Eason, interim associate dean of the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction, and Curt Lox, dean of the Brooks College of Health, the UNF Strategic Planning Committee conducted surveys and listening sessions across multiple constituent groups while also diving deep into current and historical data. The final plan reflects the University’s campus-wide commitment to excellence and student success.
(The Plan was approved unanimously by the Florida Board of Governors in March.)
