Freshman New Student Checklist

There are many things you will need to accomplish to ensure a smooth transition to UNF. This checklist will help you accomplish important student "to-do" items in order of importance. 

Before Orientation

Register for your New Student Orientation through your myWings account

Parent & Family Orientation Registration

Parents or guardians planning to attend orientation with you? Awesome! Have them register for Parent and Family Orientation on the same days you’ll be attending. Register on our Parent and Family Orientation website:   

Residency Declaration – Declare you Florida residency for in-state tuition rates

myWings > What’s Next > Declare residency for Tuition Purposes

Upload Immunization Records and the UNF Immunization Form

myWings > What’s Next > Upload Medical Compliance Documents


Complete and Submit the New Student Orientation Liability Form

Download and complete the New Student Orientation Liability Waiver > login to myWings > click the Canvas tile > open the Next Steps Guide for New Students course > click "Submit Your Orientation Liability Waiver" section and upload completed form


Complete Campus Clarity

Campus Clarity is a campus safety program all students must complete. It takes about 2 hours and needs to be completed at least 48 hours prior to Orientation. It can be found under the “Holds” tile in your myWings.


Clear Registration Holds

Be sure to check and clear the registration holds under your “Holds” tile in myWings.


Complete Placement Tests  

All students who are required to complete the math placement testing per their major’s requirements will have access to the Math Placement Test course in Canvas. Please complete the placement test prior to your Orientation. myWings > Canvas > Math Placement Test


Submit the FAFSA

It is not required, but we highly recommend that all students submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see if you qualify for grants, loans, and Federal work study. Visit the FAFSA website at *Note, if you are entering in the summer term you will fill out both the 2018-2019 FAFSA and the 2019-2020 FAFSA to apply for both summer and fall financial aid.

Submit you Housing and Residence Life contract


Purchase a Meal Membership

All First-time in college students that are living on campus are required to have a meal membership. To view meal membership options visit Meal memberships are purchased through your myWings account. myWings> What’s Next > Purchase a Meal Membership

During Orientation

  • Pack your overnight bag and make sure you have all the items needed from the Orientation Packing List
  • Know your student ID (N number) and Password for access to your myWings account
  • Meet your First-Year Experience (FYE) Mentor who will help guide you through the Orientation program and become a great student resource for questions you may have about Orientation or UNF
  • Meet with your Academic Advisor, create you course schedule, and register for your classes
  • Meet faculty and staff from helpful on campus resources

After Orientation

Purchase your UNF Parking Permit

myWings > Student Records > Parking Account


Review your Financial Aid

myWings > Student Records > Financial Records > select the “Financial Aid” tab > Award


View and Pay your Student Bill

myWings > My UNF Bill > Make a Payment
