New Student Orientation COVID-19 Updates

Due to extenuating circumstances of the COVID-19 health risk, we have made changes to New Student Orientation programming for incoming 2020 students. Your health and safety are our first priority.

University staff has transitioned to work remotely. We are unable to answer calls, however we are working diligently to assist through email. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to build an Orientation that will prepare you for your transition to UNF, while also maintaining a healthy Osprey community.

If you have any questions about changes to orientation programming, please contact the New Student Orientation Office at newtoUNF@unf.edu.

New Student Orientation

Updated 4/16/2020

  • All May and June orientation sessions are canceled and have been rescheduled for August 14-16.
  • Students who were previously registered for a session in May and June will automatically have their registration updated to the new August 14-16 session.
  • All incoming freshmen are required to attend orientation on August 14-16, regardless of Summer or Fall admission.

Academic Advising and Course Registration Updates

  • All students should complete their academic advising appointment and register for courses with their advisor before attending orientation.
  • Beginning May 15 Academic Advisors will start contacting students who have completed all their registration holds (My Holds tile in myWings) to begin the course advising and registration process.
  • Students will not be contacted by an advisor to register for classes until their registration holds are complete.
  • Your advisor will lift the New Student/First-Year Advising hold during your advising appointment.

Housing and Move-in

  • New Student Orientation will begin after Housing and Residence Life move-in ends on August 14. We will work with Housing and Residence Life to make sure you have plenty of time to move-in before coming to your Orientation.
  • Please monitor your UNF email for Housing and Residence Life updates and to get your move-in time and instructions.
  • All students not planning to live on-campus will need to make sure they have access to overnight accommodations (meaning that you can return home or have somewhere to stay at night) during this weekend.
  • All students who registered and paid the $160 in orientation fees will be refunded in April for the $60 overnight portion of those fees. Please monitor your email for notifications from Student Financial Services.
    • Any students who have not setup direct deposit will receive a mailed check.

  • Summer B housing is currently restricted for incoming new students, but if you have concerns about access to housing, please contact Housing and Residence Life at housing@unf.edu.
