Course Delivery Definitions
Courses may be delivered in a variety of modalities, from a traditional classroom setting to a fully online format, with any combination in-between. The choice of delivery method is the purview of the college and department administration in collaboration with the faculty. At UNF, a distance learning course is defined as one in which at least 80 percent of the direct instruction of the course is delivered utilizing some form of technology when the student and faculty member are separated by time, space or both. See the Course Delivery Methods page for additional UNF scheduling definitions.
The Distance Learning dashboards produced by the Office of Institutional Research provide real-time statistics about the DL effort at UNF, as related to courses, student credit hours (SCH), full-time equivalent (FTE) and student headcounts.
Distance Learning Policy
The University of North Florida supports the development of distance learning courses for the purpose of meeting the needs of our existing students in a manner that is consistent with our mission. For more information, see the university's distance learning policy.
Distance Learning Fee
UNF established the Distance Learning (DL) Fee in 2011 to support the development and delivery of DL courses. Each course listed as a distance learning course has a per credit hour fee associated with it.
