UNF Online

Our Mission




UNF Online is an Academic Affairs unit that provides leadership for the development and delivery of high-quality online learning experiences that meet the needs of learners and that extend access to degree programs in areas of strategic emphasis.

What We Do

  • Online Program Support Provide support and guidance for departments developing or managing fully online degree programs.
  • Online Student Support Provide admission and retention support in the form of enrollment management including marketing and recruiting of prospective students for online degree programs and the coordination of student services for online learners.
  • Compliance and Stewardship Develop and disseminate policies for distance learning, serve as the administrative unit for self-supporting college credit programs, coordinate State Authorization of distance education, and administer the distance learning fee.
  • Facilitation of Best Practices Provide data and analysis for online learning efforts and support online course design quality review, reporting and assessment.

Dr. Miller came to UNF in 2001 from the Duval County public school system, where she served as a classroom and resource teacher for several years. She earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership and a M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from UNF and is an OLC certified Online Instructor. Her dissertation research focused on the influence of institutional and individual factors in faculty decisions to teach online. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, hiking, and spending time with her family.

Patrice came to UNF Online after working in the UNF Graduate School for four years. She earned a B.A. in English from Westminster College in Pennsylvania and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership at UNF. She is a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence and is currently raising her seventh puppy, Queen.

Erica Anga

Erica came to Florida’s First Coast from Michigan. She has more than ten years of higher education experience working specifically with transfer, non-traditional and online students. Erica earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and her Master of Arts in conflict management and resolution from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She joined UNF Online in 2020 to promote online enrollment growth and support online student success. Erica enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and doodle, frequenting the beach, and tent camping.

Kevin Hulen | Assistant Director, Quality and Assessment

Kevin Hulen has been involved in the design and development of online content for more than 20 years. He came to UNF in 2012 from the University of Florida (UF), where he earned graduate degrees in Biology and Education. Kevin currently focuses on the implementation of institutional-initiatives related to impact of online learning, including student satisfaction, faculty satisfaction, student success factors, and other analytics related to online course quality and review. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, playing soccer, and surfing.

Sherry Hays | Assistant Director, Online Student Success

Sherry Hays has worked in higher education for more than 18 years. She has been at UNF since 2009 and has worked in various roles in public relations and enrollment services before joining UNF Online in 2019. In her current role as assistant director, she is responsible for the daily operations of the UNF Online Student Success Team – a team passionate about student success and assisting online students with the admissions and onboarding process. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in higher education administration at UNF, and in her spare time, Sherry enjoys reading classical literature and writing poetry and short stories.

Leshare joins UNF Online after working in the UNF Office of Admissions for three years. In her previous role as an admissions coordinator, she was responsible for recruiting and onboarding first-time-in-college and transfer students to the University. Leshare obtained her Bachelor of Science in early childhood education from Santa Fe College and has had the opportunity to work in various educational settings. She has a passion for education and looks forward to assisting UNF Online students with accomplishing their educational goals. Leshare enjoys working out, exploring Jacksonville, and spending time with family.

Liz Hardy is an alumna, having earned her Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies in health education and awareness with a minor in public health. She has served the UNF community for more than 18 years in various enrollment service roles specializing in transfer admissions, transfer articulation, and credit evaluation. She has also served as a dual enrollment coordinator liaising between the University and partner institutions, high schools, and home education students. Liz has a heart of service and joined UNF Online to help Ospreys achieve their educational goals. She delights in faith, family, and friends.

Alex Zuffoletti is originally from New Zealand and moved to Jacksonville from Houston, Texas. She has worked with online students in higher education for more than 10 years and is a strong proponent of the value of completing college online. She joined UNF Online to help grow the program and provide support to prospective and current students. Alex earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from McNeese State University in Louisiana and a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Florida. Alex enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, traveling, working out, and reading.

Mary Yuskis, EdD. | Online Enrollment Specialist

Dr. Mary Yuskis came to the Jacksonville area from Connecticut. She has more than 13 years of higher education administrative experience at both large public and smaller private colleges and universities in AZ, NY and CT. Mary earned her bachelor's degree from Boston College and her M.Ed. and Ed.D. degrees from Arizona State University. She joined UNF Online in 2019 to support enrollment in online nursing degree programs. Mary enjoys spending quality time with her husband, three daughters and rescue dog Lena; taking long evening walks; movies; the beach; and all things Disney.

Administrative Team

The UNF Online Administration Team provides support in the form of budget management, program assistance, and coordination of resources.

Christie Ellis moved to Jacksonville from Dallas-Fort Worth. Prior to joining UNF Online as an Office Assistant, she worked for the Town of Westlake, TX in their Municipal Court. She has two sons; one away at college and one in high school. She enjoys traveling, her two dogs, Disney, and spending time with family and friends.

Michael began his time at UNF earning a bachelor’s degree in history in 2015. He comes to UNF Online after working in the College of Education and Human Services after graduation. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with family.

Tina earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History at the University of North Florida in 2014. Prior to joining UNF as a member of the staff, she worked at UPS while continuing her education. Tina is a Jacksonville native, has raised two children, and currently has four grandchildren. She considers family a priority in her life and often makes time for travel and recreation in order to enhance her personal experiences and relationships.
