Graduate students may borrow up to their cost of attendance, less financial aid and other resources they are awarded.

Requirements & Criteria

Required Credits

Students must enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours per term in a degree seeking graduate program to be eligible.


Students must maintain Financial Aid Satisfactory Progress and prove credit worthiness.

Renewal Criteria

Complete the FAFSA each year and have credit pre-approved.

Additional Information

Grad PLUS loans are administered by Federal Direct Lending.  Repayment with 7.9% interest begins 60 days after the loan is fully disbursed.  Repayment can be deferred while the student is still enrolled at least half time as a degree seeking student.  Student must first be evaluated for eligibility on Federal Direct Loans before PLUS funds will be awarded.  Visit the Department of Education website for complete details.
