University of North Florida New Faculty Academy

What is the New Faculty Academy?

Faculty Excellence & Academic Engagement (FE&AE) is pleased to announce the inaugural New Faculty Academy. The purpose of the Academy is to engage new faculty in meaningful professional development and networking activities during their first year at the University of North Florida (UNF). Through these activities, we hope to build a community of academics who support and encourage each other in their professional growth. Participation in the New Faculty Academy will provide you with opportunities to attend workshops and events intended to strengthen your pedagogical knowledge and skills and advance your scholarly agenda. Further, the New Faculty Academy will provide documentation of your professional development efforts that can be used in annual evaluations and/or promotion dossiers.

What are the benefits to participation?

Upon successful completion of the Academy requirements, participants will receive:

  • An invitation to a celebratory luncheon with University leadership in Spring 2022
  • A New Faculty Academy certificate of completion
  • A letter of commendation from the Associate Vice President of FE&AE
  • Recognition on the Office of Faculty Excellence (OFE) website

How do I become part of the New Faculty Academy?

Participation in the Academy is easy. Simply attend, over the course of the 2021-2022 academic year, eight (8) workshops or events hosted by the FE&AE unit [the OFE, the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR), and the Center for Community-Based Learning (CCBL)].

Who is eligible to participate in the New Faculty Academy?

All faculty who have joined UNF in the past two (2) years (since August of 2020), of any rank (adjuncts, lecturers/instructors, library faculty, visiting faculty, and tenure line faculty) are eligible.
