Mudlark No. 61 (2017)

Open your knees & admit me.
Pull me out clean as a fish
waiting like rain
to pour down the chimney,
to channel the windows & doors
of the house of labor.

Do this in memory of me, that any violence
you have known as love will not harm you

& each time a lover cries your name
listen as you come
to all who came before you, settling in bone.
