Trans Talks is a peer led social and discussion group that allows for transgender individuals to meet and discuss a wide range of topics associated with being transgender. The group is open to all individuals under the Transgender Spectrum including but not limited to: Transgender, Genderqueer, Genderfluid, and Agender. It is requested that new participants contact Dwan Love for more information before attending. Trans Talks meets weekly on Thursdays from 6 to 8 pm in the LGBT Resource Center.
Every last Thursday of the month the Trans Talks group opens its doors to Allies to learn about and discuss trans and gender nonconforming issues. Please contact Dwan Love for more information.
All Trans Talk participants must be currently enrolled in classes at the University of North Florida. Special considerations will be made for college students at FSCJ, JU, or another college/university. One-time exceptions may be made for visitors by contacting Kaitlin Legg, Director, at least one week prior to preferred visit. A one-time exception is not necessarily guaranteed.
The primary mission of these groups, as well as the UNF LGBT Resource Center, is to support LGBTQIA college students. Due to increasing attendance and need, the Center can no longer support community members within social groups like Trans Talks. In addition to the scope of the Center’s mission, social groups must also follow safety and confidentiality agreements and safe space guidelines, which restrict most areas of service to college students and the campus community.
