Men & Masculinities

Peer Discussion Group

Men and Masculinities is a student-led discussion/social group that provides participants with a unique opportunity to share experiences and support others within the LGBTQIA community in a safe and confidential environment. We will offer themed discussions on coming out, relationships, gender identity and new group topics as interest emerges. This group is for any students who wish to discuss social and personal issues falling on the male/masculine spectrum, including women, non-binary and trans students, gay and bisexual men, queer folks, etc.

Men & Masculinities meets every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the LGBT Resource Center. Contact Dylan Myers for more information.

Please note that Men & Masculinities is a peer group and that there is no mental health counselor or other accredited professional available.

Support and Discussion Group Policy

All Men & Masculinities participants must be currently enrolled in classes at the University of North Florida. Special considerations will be made for college students at FSCJ, JU, or another college/university. One-time exceptions may be made for visitors by contacting Kaitlin Legg, Director, at least one week prior to preferred visit. A one-time exception is not necessarily guaranteed.

The primary mission of these groups, as well as the UNF LGBT Resource Center, is to support LGBTQIA college students. Due to increasing attendance and need, the Center can no longer support community members within social groups. In addition to the scope of the Center’s mission, social groups also must follow safety and confidentiality agreements and safe space guidelines, which restrict most areas of service to college students and the campus community.
