How to return checked out equipment

At this time, all due dates for materials and equipment loaned from the Thomas G. Carpenter Library, the ITS Help Desk, and the Center for Instruction and Research Technology (CIRT) have been extended until Dec. 18, 2020, and no fines or holds will be imposed.

If a technology device (laptop, chargers, webcams, hotspots, etc.) must be returned, please use the following process:

Step 1

Contact the ITS Help Desk at or 904-620-4357 to notify them that you would like to return equipment and to schedule a return time during the return window.


Currently, the return window are as follows:

Tuesday: 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Wednesday: 11:00am - 1:00pm
Thursday: 9:00am - 11:00am

Returns will only be accepted during the established return window. Staffing will not be available to accept returns outside of set the return window. To avoid damage and possible fees, please do not attempt to return technology items in book drops.

Step 2 


Complete this online form to provide information about the equipment you are returning.

Make a copy of any data you have on a checked out laptop before you return it. You will not be able to recover the data after you return it.

Step 3

Go to the front vestibule of the Thomas G. Carpenter Library at your agreed-on time.

A staff member will bring a cart to you. You will be required to fill out an index card with your full name, N#, and phone number. A plastic bag will be provided for the equipment you are returning and the index card to be placed into.

Once you have sealed the equipment in the bag, you will put it on the cart.

At this point, your equipment return is complete.

Step 4

The equipment you returned will be stored in a quarantined location for a minimum of 96 hours before it is sanitized following established guidance from hardware vendors such as Apple, Dell, and Microsoft.

During this time, no returned equipment will be accessible.
