International Students - J-1 Students

You Are Welcome Here

On behalf of the University of North Florida and the staff of the International Center we would like to welcome you to the UNF family. UNF is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for you to achieve your academic and personal goals.

As you settle into life at UNF, you may have many questions about academics, shopping, medical care, banking, and other everyday things. You will obtain much of this information from international and domestic students who may already know a great deal about the United States and Florida. However, we also recommend you utilize the abundant resources available on campus that are designed for your success.

The International Center staff members are also here to help you! The International Center (IC) provides information and programs to international students and works to foster international understanding on campus and in our community. In addition, the IC offers support and assistance regarding visas and other related immigration issues. The Designated School Officials (F visas) and Alternative Responsible Officers (J visas) at the UNF International Center are trained and authorized to answer your immigration questions and help you to maintain your nonimmigration status.

All discussions with the IC remain strictly confidential. It is important that you contact a staff member when you first become aware that a problem might be developing rather than when it becomes very serious. If the IC is not able to help with a particular problem, we will refer you to the appropriate office on campus.

We sincerely hope you have an enjoyable and successful stay at UNF. Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you at any time.
