Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIHM) is nationally observed in May to commemorate the immigration of Japanese people to the United States in May 1843 and the completion of the transcontinental railroad, where the majority of tracks were laid by Chinese immigrants, in May 1869. Because many of our Ospreys have departed campus in the month of May, ICP chooses to recognize this significant observance at UNF during the month of April to ensure the full benefit of any programs, events, or activities offered. Throughout April, events and activities are centered on honoring the history, culture and achievements of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans.
Past events for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month include Road to Asia, Asian/Pacific American Heritage Week, and more! Check back here in April for a complete list of our events.
