Move-In Volunteer Program

The Department of Housing and Residence Life is excited to welcome our students and families to the UNF Community!! In order to make move-in a smooth and enjoyable experience for all we would like your help! We invite faculty, staff, students and officially recognized UNF departments and student organizations to greet our newest Ospreys as well as our returning Ospreys and assist them as they move into their residential community!  


What is the Movers and Groovers Program?  

The Housing and Residence Life Movers and Groovers program coordinates and directs volunteer efforts and tabling in and around the Housing areas for Fall 2019 move-in. The focus for all staff and volunteers is getting residents settled in and providing a welcoming environment for all students, while allowing them to interact with staff and organizations from all over campus.


What do Movers and Groovers do during move-in?  

Volunteer duties include:

  • Greet Osprey students and families 
  • Help move students into residence halls 
  • Help distribute water 
  • Have fun! 

Volunteer Shifts for Movers and Groovers and/or tabling are as follows:  

First-year move-in: Friday, August 16, 2019
  • 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon                           Friday, August 16, 2019
  • 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.                           Friday, August 16, 2019
  • Both shifts (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)        Friday, August 16, 2019

Upper-class move-in: Saturday, August 17, 2019
  • 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon                              Saturday, August 17, 2019
  • 12 noon to 3:00 p.m.                              Saturday, August 17, 2019
  • Both shifts (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)      Saturday, August 17, 2019

 

*Meet at Osprey Clubhouse 30 minutes prior to your shift.

Do I have to be registered to volunteer/have a table set-up during move-in?  

Yes! If you are not a registered volunteer or approved to set-up a table you will not be permitted in the housing areas. As part of the registration, volunteers review and acknowledge some general expectations and guidelines set forth for all volunteers. Also, all volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt to be worn during their shift. This allows students to easily identify who is able to assist them.  


What if I just want to have a table at move-in? 

If you want to participate in move-in just by having a table set-up, you will still need to complete the registration form. Only one member from your organization needs to complete the form. Tabling will only take place outside of the Osprey Clubhouse on Friday and Saturday. Tables will not be provided.

 

Registration is due Wednesday, August 14, 2019.
