Learning Community Assistant

The Learning Community Assistant (LCA) is a part-time (15 hrs/week), student staff member of the Department of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Florida. As a student, the LCA lives and works with a group of approximately 30-75 residents participating in one of the various Living-Learning Communities (LLCs). The majority of the time in the LCA position should be spent building relationships with residents through formal and informal interactions. The LCA is expected to promote a supportive and friendly environment for residents. LCAs play a critical role in the success of their LLC as they connect their residents to each other and plan events around the community's focus. The LCA also maintains regular contact with faculty and staff associated with their respective LLC. The LCA position contains structured time such as staff meetings, but is a very flexible time commitment based on the LCA's class schedule and community needs, with many LCA responsibilities occurring during the evening and weekends.

Resident Assistant

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a part-time (average of 20 hrs/week), student staff member of the Department of Housing & Residence Life at the University of North Florida. The RA lives in a residence hall room and works with a group of approximately 30-65 residents in an assigned residential community. The majority of time in the RA position should be spent building relationships with residents through formal and informal interactions. The RA is expected to promote a supportive and friendly environment for residents. In addition to working with students inspanidually, RAs are critical to the success of building healthy communities where residents feel safe, included, valued and involved. The RA position contains structured time such as office hours, but is a very flexible time commitment based on the RA's class schedule and community needs, with many RA responsibilities occurring during the evening and weekends.
