The Department of Housing and Residence Life supports the mission of the University by creating a positive living and learning community with the best facilities, services, programs and customer service for our students. Our responsive staff strive daily to enhance student academic and personal development by fostering a sense of respect for self, others and the community, placing an emphasis on diversity, encouraging personal and civic responsibility, while providing opportunities for leadership development.
Over 100 full-time, part-time and student staff are responsible for providing educational programs and services including 21 residence halls and apartment buildings. The residence halls and apartments form smaller distinct and unique areas throughout the University of North Florida campus. Approximately 3700 primarily undergraduate students live in our residence halls and apartments.

Student Staff Positions

The Resident Assistant (RA) is a part-time (20 hrs/week), student staff member of the Department of Housing and Residence Life at the University of North Florida. As a student, the RA lives and works with a group of approximately 40-65 residents in an assigned area of University Housing. The primary function of the RA position is to build community in the residence halls. We are looking for students who are eager to interact with their residents, plan events for their community and connect residents with each other. The RA position has flexible hours, but most RA responsibilities occur during the evening and weekends.

Learning Community Assistants (LCAs) are generally full-time undergraduate student staff members who reside in many of our Living Learning Communities. Their primary responsibility is the community development of the residents participating in the Living Learning Community. To do this, LCAs spend much of their time interacting with their residents and putting on programs and events around the community's focus.
