First-Year Housing Information
Demand for on-campus bed space for first-year students is extremely high.
The 2023/2024 UNF Housing Contract for the upcoming academic year will be released in myHousing on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 12 noon EST.
Any admitted first-year student who has a desire to live on-campus for the 2023/2024 academic year should submit their housing contract as soon as possible, but no later than May 1, 2023.
March 10, 2023 UPDATE: Based on the rate at which first-year housing contracts are being submitted by admitted students, Housing and Residence Life highly encourages students to submit their housing contract as soon as possible and not wait until May 1, 2023.
May 2, 2023 UPDATE: While Housing and Residence Life continues to accept housing contracts for Fall 2023/Spring 2024 at the moment, it is anticipated that we will reach capacity in the coming days and stop accepting additional housing contracts. Time is of the essence and Housing and Residence Life highly encourages students to submit their housing contract IMMEDIATELY.
Please note, submission of a UNF Housing Contract does not guarantee a bed assignment. The earlier a student fully completes all steps of the housing contract submission process in myHousing, which includes the submission of a one-time $100.00 processing fee, the higher priority the student has to participate in on-line room selection process. A student failing to participate in scheduled on-line room selection processes greatly lowers any priority to receive a bed space.
The process to ultimately receive a bed assignment is a multiple step process and requires students to take specific required actions.
STEP 1 (Required):
Fully submit the Fall 2023/Spring 2024 Housing Contract in myHousing, which includes the submission of a one-time $100.00 processing fee.
Optional Step: Submit a Living-Learning Community Application. For information on first-year Living Learning Communities please visit https://www.unf.edu/housing/llc/index.html
STEP 2 (Required):
Participate in the on-line room selection process in myHousing. The anticipated First-year On-line Room Selection Process timeline is as follows:
LLC Room Selection June 12 - June 16, 2023
First-year On-line Room Selection June 26 – July 3, 2023
Please note, students who have an identified and connected roommate(s) in the myHousing portal, who can completely fill all beds in an entire room (double or triple) with connected roommates, have a higher priority to select and secured bedspace in the initial on-line room selection phase.
Please note: A student failing to participate in scheduled on-line room selection processes greatly lowers any priority to receive a bed space.
STEP 3 (Required):
Schedule a move-in appointment via myHousing.Information on the move-in process and how to schedule a move-in appointment will be released July 17, 2023.
Who is defined as a First-year student?
First-year students for housing purposes are defined as students who have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent and have earned less than 12 semester hours of transferable college credit after high school graduation. This excludes college credits earned during high school completion through accelerated mechanisms such as IB, AICE, AP, and dual enrollment classes.
What room types and housing areas are available for first-year students?
Bed space on campus is in extreme high demand. When the on-line room selection process begins, you can expect to see the following room types. As the on-line room selection process continues hour-by-hour students can anticipate the number of available rooms/beds in each facility will decrease as students participate in the process.
Osprey Hall
Approximately 246 bed spaces. Approximately half of the rooms will be for females and half for males. The vast majority of the bed spaces in Osprey Hall will be double occupancy rooms. Private rooms will only be utilized to accommodate medical and disability needs as determined by UNF Student Accessibility Center.
Osprey Landing
Approximately 550 bed spaces. Approx. half of the rooms will be for females and half for males. The majority of Osprey Landing will be triple occupancy rooms but a limited number of double occupancy rooms will be available. Private rooms will only be utilized to accommodate medical and disability needs as determined by UNF Student Accessibility Center.
Osprey Cove
Approximately 550 bed spaces. Approx. half of the rooms will be for females and half for males. The majority of Osprey Cove will be triple occupancy rooms. There will be some double occupancy rooms available but most will be assigned to Living-Learning Community participants (LLC). While most of LLC rooms will be double occupancy, some LLC rooms will be triple occupancy to accommodate the high demand for bed space. Private rooms will only be utilized to accommodate medical and disability needs as determined by UNF Student Accessibility Center.
Osprey Crossings
Approximately 480 bed spaces. Approx. half of the rooms will be for females and half for males. The majority of Osprey Crossing will be utilized for Living-Learning Communities. Non-LLC rooms will be triple occupancy. There will be some double occupancy rooms available but most will be assigned to Living-Learning Community participants (LLC). Private rooms will only be utilized to accommodate medical and disability needs as determined by UNF Student Accessibility Center.
Osprey Fountains
Approximately 200 bed spaces in four or six-person suites will be assigned to first-year Living-Learning Community participants (LLC). For information on first-year Living Learning Communities please visit https://www.unf.edu/housing/llc/index.html. Housing and Residence Life does not anticipate having any non-LLC space for first-year students in Osprey Fountains and therefore Osprey Fountains will not be an option during First-year Room Selection.
Please note the following:
Once a student submits a UNF Housing Contract, it is imperative that student actively monitor their UNF e-mail account for specific information and timelines associated with the on-line room selection process, move-in appointment scheduling and other pertinent information.
To accommodate medical and disability needs as determined by the UNF Student Accessibility Center, Housing and Residence Life may make adjustments to occupancy levels in some room types.
