The Blue & Grey Society is a prestigious Hicks Honors College organization. Students are selected based on their platinum or diamond status and invited to join, at which point they are assigned a faculty mentor. The society meets several times throughout the semester, and hear from departments campus-wide about various opportunities. During Fall semester, the Blue & Grey society has a special dinner with President Delaney. For more information about this program, contact email@example.com.
My name is Andrew Barrow. I’m from Largo, a town about four and a half hours southwest from Jacksonville. My mentor is Dr. Gilg. Fittingly, I’m a bio major, specializing in ecology and evolution. Seemed like a good subject to study up on before a museum studies program available only as a master’s program up at George Washington University. My hobbies include drawing, card games, trivia games, taking walks, and watching or listening to comedy.
My name is Christine Breault and I am from Saint Cloud, Florida. I am here at UNF to major in nutrition and dietetics. My faculty mentor is Dr. Andrea Arikawa. When not in class, I enjoy running, reading, and cooking. Once I graduate, I hope to become a registered dietitian.
My name is Teresa Conroy and I am from Tallahassee, Florida. I am the youngest of five children and I love playing with my nephews. I really enjoy playing golf and I am on the Osprey Women’s Golf Team. I plan on majoring in Statistics because I love numbers that have a meaning. My mentor is Dr. Richard Patterson.
My name is Randy Lee and I was born in Germantown, Maryland, but have lived in Jacksonville ever since I moved here when I was one. I am pursuing a Mathematics major, BA, with Creative Writing, Interdisciplinary Honors, and Asian Studies minors. My mentor is Dr. Dedeo, who is a math professor. In my free time I play a lot of video and board games. I love games a lot. When I’m not playing games, I’m usually reading or listening to music.
My name is Ryan D. Lopez and I was born and raised in Miami, Fl. I’m currently a Chemistry major with a Biochemistry focus however, I have aspirations of attending Medical School and ultimately becoming a surgeon (unsure of specialty). I was paired with my mentor Dr. Amy Lane due to our mutual interest in the Biochemical aspect of Chemistry. Since then I have been assigned my own project in Dr. Lane’s research lab and have slowly but surely been learning the ropes of the position. Other than academics, I spend most of my time playing sports, most specifically, baseball which I’ve played since age 5.
My name is Aryssa Mansfield, and I have lived about an hour away from Jacksonville for 12 years now in a town called Green Cove Springs. In high school I was heavily involved in theatre and dance which both qualify as my two most time consuming hobbies. My majors are International Business and Business Administration; I have a minor in French in addition to my honors minor as well. I hope one day to use the business skills I acquire here at UNF (and in Marseilles) to start and manage my own theatre one day. My faculty mentor is Dr. Gallo.
My name is Madeline Mickler, and I was born in Miami, Florida, but grew up here in Jacksonville. I am the oldest of six children -- four girls and two boys. I graduated from Bartram Trail High School in 2015 and was on my way to FSU, but decided to take a gap year in Detroit and Lansing, Michigan. After getting back, I changed my mind about attending FSU, and am now an Osprey. I am majoring in engineering, and my faculty mentor is Professor Tryon, who is currently teaching two of my classes! I generally enjoy learning, which is part of the reason why I chose to attend UNF and apply to its honors college. I also enjoy playing the piano, reading, and delighting in nature -- wherever and whenever. (Another reason why I chose UNF.)
My name is Ashton Ray and I am proud to be part of the Osprey Nation. I am from Macclenny, Florida where I graduated as Salutatorian of my class and served as captain of the swim team. My UNF mentor is Dr. Judith Orchrietor in the biology department. I am seeking a degree in Biomedical Sciences and plan to attend the University of Florida School of Dentistry after graduation from UNF. I plan to be an Orthodontist and use my Dental skills on many medical mission trips to underprivileged countries. Most of my time is spent studying, but in my spare time I enjoy painting. In 2013, I started my own business making and selling custom art pieces. I set up a booth at 2-3 craft shows in the fall and sell the pieces I’ve created throughout the year. My current portfolio includes over 45 pieces and I am actively creating more before my first show next month in Macintosh. I also enjoy saltwater fishing, watersports, and watching movies.
My name is Austin Strenecky and I from Melbourne, Florida and am majoring in Transportation and Logistics. My faculty mentor is Dr. Robert Frankel. I enjoy everything to do with the railroad industry and my hobbies include model railroading, editing videos, and going to Disney. I am also a big Red Sox fan.
My name is Alan Wagner and I am in the sport management program here at UNF. I am from Gainesville, Florida and had lived there my entire life prior to moving to Jacksonville. My faculty mentor here at UNF is Dr. Jason Lee from the sport management department. My hobbies pretty much all revolve around sports. I love to play sports and watch them, but particularly baseball. Without sports in my life, I don't know where I would be or what I would do.
My name is Maddie Zipperer and I am from Indian Harbor Beach, Florida. I am an Exercise Science major and hope to pursue a career in physical therapy. My hobbies include going to the beach, playing soccer, going to the gym, running, and spending time with friends.
