I'm an international student from Cali, Colombia pursuing a double-major in International Business and Finance. I love being involved in the HSU and Honors in general, in fact, I have taken far more honors classes that I'm required to, simply because I recognize the great added value they provide to our education at UNF. Last semester, I received the International Student Award 2017 (UNF has students from over 65 countries). When I graduate in Spring 2019, I plan to pursue a career in the Wealth Management industry.
The first step was a comprehensive selection process among a group of undergraduate and graduate students to be a part of the team that represents AUT every year. This team is led by Dr. Katrin Gottschalk, one of the best finance lecturers at AUT who has an impressive record as a CFA mentor.
This global competition is about thoroughly analyzing and making a recommendation (sell/hold/buy) on a company; in this case, Sanford Limited, the largest seafood company in the New Zealand Stock Market. The process included different company valuation methods, financial statements analysis, identification of several macroeconomic trends, and research on industry-specific risks and opportunities.
After around two and a half months of hard work, we finished our 30-page report on Sanford. The finals were held on October 6th by CFA NZ, where 3 fund managers listened and questioned the recommendations of all the top universities in the country and deliberated on the winners. We will now represent New Zealand in the Asia-Pacific finals in Seoul, South Korea against the best universities from both continents.
In April 2018, we will present our analysis on the same company, with the same report we submitted a week ago. Basically, each country will present its recommendation on a company from its own stock market.
