Dalian is a major seaport city in the south of the Liaoning province of China, located at the tip of the Liaodong peninsula. It is the southernmost city of northeast China and the northernmost warm water port, a major reason for its significant history as a port for foreign powers. It is the second largest city in its province, as well as a financial and logistics center for Northeast Asia, sometimes referred to as the Hong Kong of Northern China. It has been voted the city with the best living environment in China on several occasions.

About Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE)

Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) is located just west of Zinghai Park in Dalian, China. The campus lies near a state-level scenic area and has been well known for it's tranquility since it was founded in 1952. It is one of the oldest and largest universities in Dalian, with over 20,000 students in attendance annually. The university offers a number of different focuses for degrees, including economics, management, law, arts, and science. The employment rate among graduates is extremely high and the university is among the top 3 in China for Finance and Economics.

Academic Calendar

The fall semester runs from early September to mid January; the spring semester runs from early March to mid-July.


  • Some business courses available in English
  • Intensive Chinese language courses are offered by DUFE's International Institute of Chinese Language & Culture (IICLC). The courses are divided into six levels of difficulty to accommodate the varying levels of students. Language specific to business and finance is also taught in higher level classes.

Credit & Grade Conversions

Students are expected to take the equivalent of 15 UNF credits while abroad for fall or spring semesters.  


    DUFE Application Process

    Submit the following items directly to the Coggin Study Abroad Office (Building 10, Room 2125) not to the exchange partner or other UNF offices:

    DEADLINE: March 15 for fall semester and September 15 for spring semester

    DUFE Housing & Cost


    DUFE currently provides on-campus housing. The International House (I-House) arranges housing for international exchange students and foreign teachers, as well as short-term visiting scholars.


    UNF students participating in a Coggin semester exchange program will pay UNF tuition. Students will be responsible for all other expenses (i.e. flight, meals, housing, etc.). See your study abroad advisor for an estimated cost for one semester at DUFE.
