Nathan Lewis: The Barbara Ritzman Devereux Visiting Artist

Nathan Lewis, the Barbara Ritzman Devereux Visiting Artist, is a California born painter and installation artist. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally in museums, galleries and universities. In his current exhibition, "Invisible Cities," Lewis's paintings are images of longing, and also are images of what stands in the way of those longings. Painted over a ten-year span, the work navigates contemporary life and politics through the ports of artists, poets, authors, philosophers, composers, and California punk.
The exhibition opens on Thursday, March 7, 8:00 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville (MOCA) and will run through July 21, 2019. In conjunction with the exhibition, Lewis will be conducting workshops and an artist talk at both UNF and MOCA, as follows:
Workshops: Tuesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 7, 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Fine Arts Portfolio Class: Wednesday, March 6, 12:00 p.m.
