HOW TO JOIN
Joining a fraternity or sorority can be one of the most rewarding experience, as it serves as an excellent way to make friends, feel acclimated to UNF, develop your leadership skills, and so much more! Depending on the organization you are interested in, their membership process may defer from other fraternities and sororities; however, there are general requirements that are required in order to join any Greek organization at UNF.
If you have any questions regarding fraternity and sorority life at the University of North Florida, we welcome you to contact us at OFSL@unf.edu.
OFSL REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN A GREEK ORGANIZATION
In order to join any fraternity or sorority at UNF, a student must be or have:
- Minimum overall Cumulative GPA, including a transfer GPA, of a 2.5. If you do not have a college GPA, you must have a minimum high school GPA of a 3.0.
- Be a fully matriculated student at the University of North Florida.
- Be currently enrolled in classes at the University of North Florida.
To join an IFC fraternity and participate in recruitment, prospective members must register at https://unfifc.mycampusdirector2.com. Registration is mandatory in order to be considered for bid extension, and all men seeking to join an IFC chapter at UNF must meet all OFSL membership requirements.
Recruitment activities are held during both the spring and fall semesters, and IFC Recruitment Week kicks off with a meet the chapters event held in either the Student Union or University Center. At this event that you will have the opportunity to meet and learn about the IFC chapters so that you can pursue the specific organizations you may be interested in joining. The IFC chapters may extend bids to potential members at any point during the fall and spring semesters.
MULTICULTURAL GREEK COUNCIL
Each MGC fraternity and sorority chooses when they will recruit new members, and this may take place each semester or once every year. All individuals seeking to join an MGC chapter at UNF must meet all OFSL membership requirements, as well as attend a MGC & NPHC Etiquette session. These are held multiple times per year and prospective members only need to attend once during their undergraduate career.
It is strongly encouraged to follow our MGC organizations on social media, as this is the platform widely used to promote any recruitment events and informational meetings.
NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL
Each NPHC fraternity and sorority will decide when they will be accepting new members through the Membership Intake process. NPHC chapters may decide to host intake once a year or each semester. All individuals seeking to join an NPHC chapter at UNF must meet all OFSL membership requirements, as well as a MGC & NPHC Etiquette session. These are held multiple times per year and prospective members only need to attend once during their undergraduate career.
To learn more about our NPHC community, we encourage students to attend NPHC 101, held every fall semester. Once you know which group you are interested in pursuing membership for, you should attend that organization's interest meeting to learn more about their intake process.
The Panhellenic Council hosts their Primary Recruitment, also known as Formal Recruitment, during Labor Day weekend each fall semester. Formal Recruitment is a fully-structured, mutual selection process that allows potential members the opportunity to become acquainted with as many sororities as possible so they may make informed decisions concerning membership. To participate the Primary Recruitment process, potential new members must register at https://unf.mycampusdirector2.com/. Registration opens on May 1st and we ask that you refer to the Panhellenic website and social media for the specified registration deadline.
In the Spring, some chapters will have an informal recruitment where chapters hold events on their own. Not all chapters are guaranteed to host recruitment events in the spring.
