Educator Preparation Institute (EPI)

The University of North Florida (UNF), College of Education and Human Services (COEHS), has been approved by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) to provide an Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) as part of the state’s effort to address teacher shortages in critical areas. As such, the UNF EPI provides an alternative route for individuals to obtain a professional teaching certification in the state of Florida. The program is designed for those individuals who have already earned a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a non-education major and desire to become teachers, but do not wish to pursue an additional degree to do so.

Individuals who complete the UNF EPI program will receive a credential that confirms the state’s Professional Education Competencies requirements for professional certification have been achieved, and eligibility to apply to the FLDOE for a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate.
