Accessing Smarthinking for the first time will begin the system check and login process. You may see several screens during this process. Some of these are potentially valid error messages (like pop-up blocker), and others can be ignored. See below for specific examples.
The system check runs every time you access Smarthinking. It is dependent on the web browser, settings, and computer used. Pay attention to the messages you receive.
Smarthinking Background Screen
When you start Smarthinking, your Canvas session window will convert to a Smarthinking background while your Smarthinking session loads.
If you receive the following launch error message, close the error message and return to the Smarthinking background in your course session.
Click on the "Re-load Smarthinking" button on the screen.
This will take you back to the course page. Click on the "Smarthinking" link again to reload your Smarthinking session.
Typically, this second instance works better. You should soon see a "Loading..." message, as Smarthinking works to load itself in a new window.
In order for Smarthinking to load and run correctly, it will perform a system check on your computer and browser to make sure that they meet the minimum requirements for a Smarthinking session. If your computer and browser meet the minimum requirements, you will likely see the system check results very briefly before your Smarthinking session loads. If there is a problem with either your computer or browser, your system check will remain on screen so that you can see those areas that need to be addressed before you can re-launch the Smarthinking session.
** READ your system check screen carefully and follow the instructions to resolve any issues.**
** Smarthinking will not function properly until all issues are resolved. **

Smarthinking requires you to disable your pop-up blocker for the Smarthinking domain.
If you have not resolved your pop-up blocker, you may see the following error message:
