Online courses involve completing a course online, by means of the internet, rather than the traditional way of going to the classroom on a weekly basis. Taking an online course at UNF requires that you have access to the Internet. For other requirements, click here. Students should have some general computer knowledge before starting a course. Information Technology Services offers sessions entitled “Introduction to using Osprey email and Blackboard” during the second week of each term. It is recommended that students attend one of these sessions, if they are able. These sessions are offered on campus.
Students who are unable to attend an on campus session are encouraged to review Smarterer, an online skills testing bank – where you can assess your abilities in a wide range of areas, including computer competency and desktop software applications.

Yes, as a UNF student, you can purchase Microsoft Office at a discount through the Microsoft Store. Additionally, UNF offers a Virtual Lab, which provides access to software applications from any computing device – laptops, desktops, tablets and smartphones – from any location, at any time. The Virtual Lab provides students and faculty access to applications such as SPSS, SAS, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks), and Adobe Professional.
