This Confucius Institute is a joint collaboration between the University of North Florida, USA and Shaanxi Normal University, China.
The University of North Florida is located in Jacksonville, Fla., USA. Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida and is located in the northeast corner of the state. Jacksonville represents a diversified population, with jobs in transportation, financial services, the military, education, health services and tourism. The University is ranked No. 10 nationally for short-term study-abroad programs and No. 19 nationwide for international student mobility. U.S. News & World Report named UNF a Best Regional College, and on its 2013 list of Best Graduate Schools. The Princeton Review named UNF a best value college, and a Best College in the Southeast for the fifth straight year.
Shaanxi Normal University is situated in the ancient capital city of Xi’an, Shaanxi province, China. Xi’an is one of the four internationally renowned historical and cultural cities. Directly administered by the Ministry of Education of China, Shaanxi Normal University is a key university under the construction plan of China’s national “211 Project." It is a university under China’s Innovation Platform Construction Plan of the“985” Superior Discipline of Teacher Education. It is a major base for training teachers and administrators of higher learning institutes and secondary schools as well as other high-level professionals in China, and is known as the “Cradle of Teachers” in Northwest China.
The Confucius Institute at the University of North Florida enhances teacher training, increases teacher’s resources and tightens the relationships with K-12 schools while providing the leadership for Chinese teaching and learning, teachers’ training, and HSK testing and promoting cultural understanding in north Florida, south Georgia and southeast Alabama.
