Continuous Improvement
As
part of the University of North Florida (UNF) Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP),
the University concluded its five-year report on Community-Based
Transformational Learning for the Southern Associations of Colleges and Schools
Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) in 2015.
The success of this process served as a springboard for continuing to
evaluate how community engagement principles were being integrated throughout
the institution.
In
Fall 2016 and at the behest of President John Delaney, UNF established the
Community Action Plan (CAP) team to further the work from the QEP and to examine
practices across the institution, using a continuous improvement model, to broaden
and deepen community engagement.
The three stages to UNF’s Community Action Plan are:
- Inventorying Our Efforts
- Quality of Partnerships
- Identifying a Pathway Forward
At each stage of the plan, the composition of
the CAP team has included individuals whose insight and expertise both champion
and challenge UNF’s efforts, holding the institution accountable to its
commitment to community engagement. Through
the various iterations of the CAP teams, almost 100 individuals throughout the
University and Jacksonville communities have been involved as key contributors.
