Agenda Item FA 18-45

Submitted by the Academic Programs Committee

Brooks College of Health (Undergraduate) – (Nutrition & Dietetics):

Courses Changes and Programs of Studies (2 packages)

09/06/18: Withdrawn

The item for two packages was withdrawn due to the item pertained to requiring the Background Check as a prerequisite for Nutrition students entering the program, before registering for a course. The department did a trial run during the fall registration and quite a few students delayed their registration (not good!) rather than promptly complete the Background Check and then register. The delay registrations because that causes additional problems.

Change a degree-major of an existing program

Bachelor of Science - Nutrition & Dietetics Major

Summary of the changes:

We would like to add a new prerequisite requirement for FSS1202 Food Fundamentals (3 credits). The prerequisite requirement is "Completion of the Brooks College of Health Background Check". This will ensure that all students complete the Background Check at the proper time, before they begin volunteer experiences with vulnerable populations.

Nutrition & Dietetics– Undergraduate

Change a degree-major of an existing program

Bachelor of Science - Nutrition & Dietetics Major

Summary of the Changes:

We would like to add HUN3403 Life Span Nutrition (taken Fall semester, Junior year) as a required prerequisite for DIE3310 Community Nutrition (taken Spring semester, Junior year). This change will ensure that enrolled students stay on-sequence, and that transfer students who enter the program in January cannot register for DIE3310 Community Nutrition.
