Add a new concentration to an existing program

Bachelor of Science - Sport Management Major

Concentration: Accelerated BS to MED

Summary of changes:

The faculty of the BS degree in Sport Management would like to submit a proposal for an accelerated Bachelor (BS in Sport Management) to Master's degree (MEd in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Athletic Administration). This accelerated program would also serve as the Honors in the Major for Sport Management. We believe this will be an attractive option for students who are interested in pursuing their Master's degree after completing their Bachelor's degree. It will also provide recognition and reward for those high achieving students who possibly did not qualify for, or transferred in and did not have the opportunity to participate in the Honors program. This accelerated program is ideal for an accelerated program given the similarity in course work between the two programs. The Master's level content is more rigorous and requires more critical thinking and research application but we believe high achieving students will be able to experience success in the courses outlined in our proposal. In summary, we would like to create an accelerated BS to MEd program that allows students, who meet the admission criteria, to begin taking master's level courses (up to 6 hours) while still in the BS degree program. Students will complete the BS degree and then hopefully matriculate into the Masters's degree program with 6 credit hours taken. The program of study indicates those courses in which students will be able to choose the graduate level course to take in place of the undergraduate one.
