Mural Dedication/Ax Handle Saturday Commemoration

1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: Free

The Center for Urban Education and Policy will officially unveil the Hope and History Mural Project, commemorating Ax Handle Saturday as part of a two-part program, 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25:

  • 1 p.m. : Rodney L. Hurst Sr. will lead a program recognizing the 58th anniversary of the Lunch Counter Sit-Ins and Ax Handle Saturday, Hicks Auditorium, Jacksonville's Main Library, 303 N. Laura St.
  • 4 p.m. : A short dedication ceremony will officially unveil the mural, Eastside Brotherhood, 915 A. Phillip Randolph Blvd. Following the ceremony, Pastor Christopher McKee and the Church of Oakland will host attendees for light refreshments and drinks at the church, 1025 Jessie St.

Genuinely U Fall Breakfast
