External Scholarships

These scholarships are selected by the respective outside donors and are not part of the Coggin 'General' scholarships and fellowships. Scholarship awards are presented directly to the selected recipient at a professional meeting to be determined by the donor.

Scholarship Eligibility Award Deadline
FICPA Educational Foundation Scholarship
  • Must be a 4th or 5th year UNF degree-seeking, accounting majors who will have accumulated at least 90 semester hours of college coursework by the beginning of Fall 2019. Graduate students in the MAcc or MBA program with a concentration in accounting are eligible.
  • Must have completed the junior year with at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA, a 3.0 UNF Institutional GPA, and a 3.0 Upper-Division Accounting GPA (3000 courses or above).
  • Must be a studnet member of the FICPA. Free to students.
  • Must plan to be enrolled in the upcoming Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters.
  • Primarily intended for full-time students to be registered for twelve (12) or more undergraduate semester hours or 9 or more graduate semester hours during the Fall 2019-Spring 2020 semesters. Part time students with a minimum of six (6) credit hours each term will be considered.
  • Must plan to sit for the CPA exam and be working towards fulfilling the requirements for certification in Florida.
  • Must indicate a desire to practice in the field of accounting as a CPA in the State of Florida.
  • Must be a Florida Resident and be a US citizen or hold permanent residency.
  • Financial need will be considered by the FICPA Educational Foundation.
  • Demonstrated professional, community, and/or charitable activities
  • Must submit an electronic letter of recommendation from at least one faculty member.
  • Candidates are eligible for up to two consecutive awards.
$2,000 each (full-time) or $1,000 (part-time) March 4, 2019
Institute of Internal Auditors Northeast Florida Chapter (IIA NEFL)
  • Must be an undergraduate degree-seeking student with a major in finance or accounting
  • Must have completed the sophomore year (60 credit hours)
  • Must be a full-time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester
  • Must be a citizen of the United States or hold permanent residency status
  • Must have a minimum UNF GPA of 2.8

James Wilcox Endowed Scholarship
  • The scholarship is to be used for the purpose of completing the 5th year of accounting at any accredited college or university in the State of Florida.
  • Must be a degree-seeking accounting major who will have completed the senior year at the time the scholarship is received.
  • Must be an African-American student.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 Cumulative GPA, a 3.0 UNF institutional GPA, and a 3.0 Upper-Division Accounting GPA (3000 courses and above).
  • Must plan to be enrolled in the upcoming Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters.
  • Must be a student member of the FICPA. Free to students.
  • Primarily intended for full-time students to be registered for twelve (12) or more undergraduate semester hours or 9 or more graduate semester hours during the Fall 2019-Spring 2019 semesters. Part time students with a minimum of six (6) credit hours each term will be considered.

The granting of scholarships shall be on a basis of educational achievement, financial need, and demonstrated involvement with the FICPA and other professional, social, and charitable activities. The Trustees recognize that need can vary dependent upon significant factors including geographical considerations, work-place conditions, current employment, dependents, other obligations of the student, and parental support or lack thereof.

Clay Ford Scholarship - Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation
  • Completion of 120 credit hours from an accredited institution in Florida. The scholarship is to be used for the purpose of entering the 5th year of accounting
  • Must have financial need
  • Scholastic ability and performance (including the intention of sitting for the CPA exam
  • Ethnicity, gender or racial minority status pursuant to section 288.703(4) F.S.
  • Must be a Florida Resident
Scholarship awards vary up to $6,000 per semester for a maximum of 2 semester. June 1, 2019
